BitGo has obtained a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) license from Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), marking a significant milestone in its European expansion strategy. The approval enables BitGo Europe GmbH to offer regulated custody and institutional crypto services across all 27 EU member states.

The license positions BitGo as a compliant gateway for both crypto-native firms and traditional financial institutions seeking digital asset exposure. The company has already established regulatory footholds in Italy, Spain, Poland and Greece through its 2023-established European entity.

This regulatory win comes as Europe emerges as the world’s most structured crypto market under MiCA framework. Institutional adoption is accelerating, with licensed custodians becoming critical infrastructure for banks and asset managers entering the digital asset space.
